GDNF mimetics is a project started by University of Helsinki and Molcode Ltd in November 2013. The project is supported by European Union’s Marie Curie IAPP initiative under 7th Framework Programme. The project will last for 4 years. Participants will combine their efforts and expertise for the development of novel disease-modifying treatment against devastating neurodegenerative disorder called Parkinson’s disease. To achieve this goal partners will use rational drug design methods mastered by Molcode and biological techniques ranging from cell-bases assays to animal model of Parkinson’s disease developed and employed in the University of Helsinki. Medicinal chemistry optimization of selected small molecules will be performed by joint efforts of both partners.
